I think, since this blog is about my everydays at university, I think I must take the time to write about the WONDERFUL, AMAZING, and USEFUL kitchen we have in our flat. It's really awesome! Today, I tried to make pancakes for the 2nd time - the first time, when I didn't have a frying pan, only a teflon pan thingy - I failed miserably. The pancakes just wouldn't cook. We figured out that the stove was broken, so whatever. Today, armed with my new 8-pound frying pan, and using the rare occasion when Bob wasn't cooking something yummy for his Chinese friends, I took to the other stove, which apparently works.
So yeah. It does. But for some odd reason, the makers were incapable of making any of the round black areas that heat up (no idea in English about the name for them) be HORIZONTAL. Unfortunately, for pancakes, you need it to be like that, just like it was at my house in Hungary. Otherwise, as I now know, all the pancake liquid flows into one half of the frying pan, and doesn't fry evenly in all areas. Furthermore, to make my life even more amusing, there was an area on the frying pan (very conveniently, ALMOST IN THE MIDDLE) which is I guess faulty, so the pancake stuck to that bit, making it nearly impossible to flip round -___-;;;;
I devised a clever method of making only crescent-shaped pancakes, but it still stuck to that area, so I don't think they taste very nice. I filled them with cocoa powder and left them to cool in the kitchen, while now, I'm eating my chicken bits with tomatoes, and some torn-up, leftover pancakes... lovely.

Apart from that, I guess I should write about the classes, since I've had all of them for a week now... well, I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, since I'm not - it was my choice -, but Japanese is loooads of work! @_@; I decided not to do any work tonight... I know I'll regret it, but I just really can't bring myself to it ^^; We had a quiz today (every Friday there will be one), and I was up studying until 10pm, then studied in the morning too, so I think I deserve a LITTLE break ^^; For SA, I have to read loads of texts, which I will do today. Actually, the ones that *are* connected with anthropology are quite interesting! Like how this guy spent 2 years observing people in a village in New-Guinea... even though I know I probably won't go on to do MA and PhD Social Anthropology, it was nice to read about what methods he used, and how I would go about doing similar observations in Japan, since that's where I'd like to do field study, if we have to (we might).
Social Theory is quite boring though, so far. I like the ideas that come up, but the tutorial hour was pretty useless - nobody knew what to talk about... it appears that Social Theory wasn't compulsory for joint honours people until last year... why oh why? T__T

Anyhoo. The Japanese teachers are lovely, my favourite *is* Kashiwagi-sensei, as I had predicted she would be XD She's amazingly genki, draws random little smiley faces/etc on the board to illustrate her meaning, and you just can't not remember what she teaches you :) Shame we only have her for 1 hour a week! :( The others, we have for 2 each.

Holnap con! NAGYON DRUKKOLOK akinek drukkolnom kell!!! *^_________^*
